    Porta del Sol, Puerto Rico, has something for everyone that chooses this location as their vacation destination. It is an adventurer’s paradise and for beach lovers, the beaches are exquisite. In fact you will find some of the best beaches in the world in this piece of heaven in the Caribbean. The region takes in many exotic locations, such as Rincon and Aquadilla, along the west coast of the island. The name translates to “Sun Gate” and this will give you an idea of the many opportunities you have for fun in the sun.

    There are seventeen different towns in Porta del Sol, each of which offers unique attractions and ways in which you can have true rest and relaxation. This region is farther away from the more populated cities of the island and is a part of the island that has only recently seen a growth in tourism. For many, it was off the beaten track. However, it does give you a deeper sense of the culture of the island people.

    Surfers have discovered that the Porta del Sol region offers the best surfing opportunities. Nature lovers will be astounded at the spectacular scenic images that unfold before their eyes and everyone will be busy snapping photos to show those at home. Beaches abound for those who want to play in the warm waters and sunbathe on the beach, but there are also many tourist attractions waiting for you to visit.

    Rincon has beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts offering everyone the best of both worlds. This is the premier destination for avid fishers who want to catch the big one and challenge their fishing skills. Fish that have been caught in these waters have broken world records many times over. Fishing tournaments are held at various times of the year and attract sports fishermen from all over the world.

    Porta del Sol is one area of Puerto Rico that required further attention when you decide to spend your vacation on this island.

    BMX Rincon, Puerto Rico


    The Venezuelan Jonathan Suarez confirmed his status as one of the best BMX riders, winning the gold medal of the Central American and Caribbean Games Mayagüez 2010 in the town of Rincon, Puerto Rico. The silver and bronze medals went to the Colombians Augusto Castro and Sergio Salazar, respectively.

    On a very complicated track and rain which lasted basically all day, Suarez finished with a time of 33.598 to take first place and win the gold medal. Augusto Castro finished with a time of 33.962 and Sergio Salazar 34.925.

    "It was a close finish because I had the two Colombians very close, but we prepared hard with great perseverance." said Suarez also known as the mosquito.

    The athlete appreciated the support provided by the Ministry of Popular Power for Sport, National Sports Institute and the Venezuelan Federation of Cycling and the Venezuelan Olympic Committee.


    The Rincon Beach Resort was nominated yesterday by the editorial group of Caribbean Travel & Life magazine in the category "Best Small Hotel" of the Caribbean as part of a contest featuring the best in the region.

    Rincon Beach Resort was the only candidate from Puerto Rico selected in the category "Best Small Hotel" and will be competing against hotels in the British Virgin Islands, Martinique, Riviera Maya, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and St. Maarten.

    "It's an honor to see our hotel to be nominated in this prestigious category," said Jose Rodriguez, CEO of Rincon Beach Resort. "We focus on customer satisfaction and this nomination is proof that we are doing our job efficiently," he added.

    The voting period started July 14 and runs until 22 October. The winners will be recognized in the January-February 2011 edition of Caribbean Travel & Life magazine.

    This boutique hotel located on the west coast, rated three diamonds by AAA, has 112 rooms with 24 spacious luxury suites, an infinity pool and a Jacuzzi overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

    Rincon Mayor Carlos López Bonilla announces the finishing touches on the facilities to be used for the events of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

    We've been putting the finishing touches on all the facilities that will be used for the various events starting July 22nd such as Mountain Biking and BMX.

    We are updating the mountain bike track and we are putting the finishing touches on the BMX. The roads for the Central American and Caribbean Triathlon are paved and are ready for event day. The Triathlon will be held on July 24th and 25th.
